Moon light and moon lit views are a particular favourite of Scandinavian artists, the play of light over water is such a common sight in Sweden that it is often the focus of paintings.  Light of any form is such an important part of life and culture in the northern latitudes where winters are long and dark and dusk can last for an hour.
