IMANTS SINKA, born Riga 1915-1993 Molkom, Latvian Swedish. Oil on canvas. signed and dated '49, titled Böckeltjärn, north of Karlstad, Värmland County.
Sinka was trained as an Apothecary and came to Sweden from Latvia as a refugee in 1944, after a short period in Stockholm he moved to Kristinehamn for work. His focus soon changed to the artistic and he was an autodidact. He organised his own study tours which included Poland, Germany and Austria. He had solo exhibitions in Molkom, Göteborg, Hagfors, Filipstad, Kristinehamn, Karlstad, Paris and Riga. He took part in several exhibitions with Värmlands Konstförening at Värmlands Museum, as well as other exhibitions. Sinka is represented in Filipstads Commune art collection with 11 works and at Värmlands Museum.
